Veterans Breakfast at AMVETS Post 21

Kicking off the day bright and early, the AMVETS Post 21 is hosting their much-anticipated Veterans Breakfast! This special gathering will take place from 7 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at 22769 Black Road. This year, veterans and first responders can enjoy a hearty breakfast for free—so don’t miss out! And if you’re not a veteran? You can still enjoy a delicious meal for just $10. It’s a great way to support our heroes and mingle with the community!

Spooky Meet and Greet at the Library

Feeling a bit adventurous? Swing by the Athens-Limestone County Public Library on October 10th at 6 p.m. for a meet-and-greet with local author Allen Sircy. Known for his works on the paranormal, Sircy is sure to delight those looking for a spine-tingling time. It’s a great opportunity to discuss ghost stories, share your own spooky experiences, and pick up a few books to get you in the Halloween spirit!

Pink Lady Walk for a Cause!

On the same day as the breakfast, the Pink Lady Walk will be celebrating its 10th anniversary at Big Spring Memorial Park. The 5k walk/run kicks off at 8 a.m. and is dedicated to raising awareness about breast cancer awareness and the significance of early detection. STEPS Book Club: Future Voters

If you are interested in fostering the next generation of informed voters, join the Limestone County NAACP for their monthly STEPS Book Club on October 12th from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. This month’s theme is “Future Voters”, and it’s a perfect chance for parents and kids (from pre-school through eighth grade) to learn about voter awareness over brunch!
