The victim, identified as Brenda R. Reed, aged 78, was behind the wheel of a 1999 GMC Sonoma when her vehicle was struck by a 2017 Nissan Titan driven by Aaron S. Barnes, a 34-year-old resident of Gadsden. The impact caused the GMC to overturn and veer off the roadway. Subsequently, the Nissan Titan collided with a 2009 Nissan Rogue driven by Shawn S. Wheeler, a 59-year-old from Huntsville.

Following the crash, Brenda R. Reed was airlifted to Marshall Medical North Hospital for urgent medical treatment. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, she succumbed to her injuries later on.
