North Alabama Airfest Expected to Launch Late 2025 or Early 2026

Residents of North Alabama and visitors from all around are in for a treat as the Pryor Field Airport Authority gears up for the second North Alabama Airfest. The family-friendly airshow, playing host to thousands of attendees, is slated to occur in late 2025 or early 2026 at Pryor Field Regional Airport (DCU).

Recalling the First Airfest

Witnessed by locals and out-of-state enthusiasts, the inaugural North Alabama Airfest was held in June of 2023. The event saw a tremendous outpour of support and appreciation with Airport Director, Adam Fox, attesting to the success of the event. He expressed his joy stating, “We set out to provide a platform that would allow people to visit the airport to learn about the aviation/aerospace industry as well as get excited about the growth of this niche in North Alabama; we accomplished that goal.”

Fostering Growth and Inspiring Interest

The Authority’s Chairwoman, Faith Hooper, spoke warmly about the event, sharing her excitement for an eventful weekend set to showcase the area’s thriving aviation industry as well as inspire the future aviation professionals. The airshow promises breathtaking aerobatic performances, a chance to experience historic warbirds, and exposure to cutting-edge aircraft. Not only will the event promise an adrenaline rush for thrill-seekers, but it also holds the promise of educational activities oriented towards children. Through these activities, children will be provided with ample opportunity to learn about aviation and the key roles it will play in our future.

More than an Air Show

Large-scale events such as the North Alabama Airfest benefit Alabama’s communities in more ways than one. These events not only foster community spirit and pride, but they also provide significant contributions to the local economy. They provide a boost to local businesses, encourage tourism, and stimulate the hospitality industry. The President/CEO of Decatur Morgan County Tourism, Danielle Gibson, emphasized the impact of such events, saying, “The North Alabama Airfest at Pryor Field has a significant economic impact on our local communities… This event attracts visitors from near and far, boosting sales for hotels, restaurants, and retail establishments, while also promoting regional pride and visibility.”

Collaborations and Sponsorships

The Pryor Field Airport Authority has announced their collaboration with David Schultz Airshows, a company known for coordinating air and ground operations for airshows. This partnership is a clear testament to the priority placed on ensuring not just a fun-filled but also a safe experience for the attendees. In anticipation of a bigger, more exciting second run, organizers have called out to potential sponsors and partners to join them in making this show an even bigger success. Fox conveyed the importance of partnerships and invited interested businesses to explore the opportunity citing reasons like brand visibility, customer engagement opportunities, media exposure, and exclusive VIP access.
