Exciting New Supergroup Dweeby Set to Release Their First EP in Huntsville!

Huntsville is buzzing with excitement as a brand-new supergroup has hit the music scene, bringing together three talented local artists! The group, Dweeby, features Jerome Villareal of Them Damn Dogs, Wanda Wesolowski from The Wanda Band, and Aaron Anderson of King Jeans. Their first EP, titled The Dweepee, is set for release next Friday, October 25, and it’s sure to set the stage ablaze!

From Neighbors to Musical Collaborators

This dynamic trio started as neighbors, but it was during the COVID-19 pandemic that they transformed their casual connections into jam session friendships. What began as strumming guitars and singing for fun quickly evolved into a professional collaboration. They even created a music video for Villareal’s band, Them Damn Dogs, and rocked the stage at Sluice Fest 2021 and various house shows around town.

But things didn’t stop there! As they continued performing together, the three artists decided they wanted to expand their musical repertoire. “We needed to fill in for time so we played a few songs and thought we should write more songs and get an EP or something started,” Villareal recalled. And thus began their journey of creating new music, which eventually culminated into a full EP!

A Collaboration of Talents

Villareal expressed his appreciation for working alongside such talented songwriters, saying, “It’s been really cool working with talented songwriters like Wanda and Aaron because they are seasoned musicians like me with interesting styles and creative melodies.” The mutual respect and admiration among the trio have undoubtedly led to some magical music-making.

The passion and dedication they’ve put into their first EP, The Dweepee, shine throughout the tracks. With an eclectic sound that combines elements of power pop, indie, grunge, post-punk, and even acoustic styles, it’s hard to classify them into just one genre. “We’re a little all over the place and have a real eclectic sound. You can’t really pinpoint what sort of genre we have because it changes drastically, especially on our EP, The Dweepee,” said Villareal, describing their unique “multi-genre” or “post-genre” vibe.

Recording Adventures

To bring The Dweepee to life, the band ventured to Clearwave Recording Studios in Decatur. With the guidance of producer Jeremy Stephens and the musical talents of Joe Canada from Camacho, they added fascinating twists to their sound. One exciting feature included replicating a rowdy bar atmosphere for background noise, which adds a very lively touch to their work. Plus, Canada contributed his skills on both accordion and organ!

Get a Taste of Their Music

Before the EP drops, fans can get a sneak peek of Dweeby’s musical prowess with the release of two singles, “I’m Just Sayin’” and “Barricade Disaster.” These tracks hint at the exciting sounds that await listeners in the full EP. So, make sure to mark your calendars!
