Huntsville Welcomes New Park at Hays Farm
Exciting news is buzzing around Huntsville as Mayor Tommy Battle, along with City Councilwoman Jennie Robinson and local officials, officially broke ground on The Park at Hays Farm this past Tuesday. This much-anticipated park is set to span nine beautiful acres located at 801 Haysland Road, right near the Hays Farm shopping complex. Residents can expect to enjoy the park by the fall of 2025, after an estimated 14 months of construction.
What to Expect at The Park
Mayor Battle expressed enthusiasm about the park’s development, stating that it aims to offer local residents a serene space similar to those enjoyed in other parts of the city. “This park will be versatile enough to be a buzzing hub of activity for friends and families while also providing quiet areas away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. It’s something that everyone will be able to enjoy,” he noted. The design offers a little something for everyone!
What can visitors look forward to when the park opens? Among its standout features will be a one-acre lake and a stunning waterfall that might just become the go-to spot for local photographers. With a special entry portal that includes two family restrooms, the park will be equipped to welcome everyone comfortably. Plus, a pavilion is on the agenda for group events, alongside unique seating spaces perfect for picnics.
Activities and Amenities
Kids can rejoice with plenty of open space to play—the park is welcoming for kite flying, frisbee throwing, and just running around. Active residents will appreciate the inclusion of a fitness court, created in collaboration with Arts Huntsville, along with walking paths that connect to the City’s extensive greenway network. Near the area of the school, there’s also a plan for stone signs that will serve as a picturesque gate, creating a pleasant plaza for pedestrians as they cross the street. Notably, a relocated windmill from the Hays family farm will serve as a centerpiece, linking the park’s identity to the Hays Farm mixed-use development.
