Redstone Arsenal Celebrates Retiring Soldiers and Civilians
Huntsville is buzzing with excitement as Redstone Arsenal gears up for its installation-wide retirement ceremony scheduled for September 27, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. This special event will take place at the Bob Jones Auditorium in building 5304, located in the Sparkman complex on Martin Road. This month’s ceremony will honor the remarkable careers of one soldier and four dedicated Army civilians who are wrapping up their time in service.
A Heartfelt Recognition
The ceremony will be the second in what promises to be a new quarterly tradition at Redstone Arsenal. As Bryan Copeland, the community readiness and resiliency integrator in Garrison’s Directorate of Human Resources explains, “We want to recognize all military and government civilians from various tenant unit organizations who have contributed significantly to our warfighters and the overall success of their organization’s mission.” This is enlightening news for everyone who understands the immense effort and dedication that goes into supporting the military.
Meet the Honorees
This month’s honorees include:
- Sgt. 1st Class LaShunda Hutchinson, senior human resource sergeant, 104th Training Division
- Allen Lastinger, multimedia specialist, Army Materiel Command
- Archie Scott, senior logistics management specialist, Program Executive Office for Aviation
- Tracy Walker, operational account manager, Regional Network Enterprise Center-Redstone
- Conrad Bonner, deputy director, Central Command, Regional Operations at PEO Aviation
Among these remarkable individuals, Allen Lastinger is set to retire from AMC on October 31 after an impressive 20 years of service, including nearly 12 years in the military. He expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming ceremony, sharing, “I believe it is a great way to showcase the variety of individuals and what they bring to the overall scope of what Redstone does – not just AMC or USASAC, everything that we do here.” His deep appreciation for Huntsville shines through as he adds, “I have just grown to love Huntsville, and I think that this is a very unique place in Alabama.”
Planning and Community Spirit
The Directorate of Human Resources has been busy coordinating this ceremony, which is part of a broader initiative launched by the Redstone senior commander. The first ceremony was a success on April 25, and they’ve aimed to maintain that momentum in celebrating the hard work and contributions of its military and civilian teams.
For those planning to attend, the ceremony promises to be an uplifting event, filled with heartfelt speeches and honors that pay tribute to those who have dedicated their lives to serving the nation. It’s a chance for the community to come together, celebrate the past, and look forward to the future these individuals are stepping into after their service.
A Shared Experience
As the day approaches, excitement is building not just among the honorees but within the entire Huntsville community. This ceremony is not merely about farewell; it’s really about appreciating a legacy of service, sacrifice, and dedication. It’s a moment where stories will be shared, memories will be cherished, and the profound impact of these individuals on their organizations will be celebrated.
We encourage everyone to come out on September 27 to show support for these amazing individuals. Whether you’re a friend, family member, or just a supporter of the military, your presence will surely make this event even more special. Let’s honor those who have served and continue to serve in countless ways.
Mark it on your calendar; you won’t want to miss this heartfelt celebration of service, dedication, and community spirit!
